3D MDF INFO

DESIGHT TEXTURED 3D standard wall panels are produced out of “MDF” (Medium Density Fiberboard) sheets measuring 4’x8’x15mm weighing approximately 60 lbs each and computer designed so that carved & sculpted designs flow seamlessly from one panel to the next.

We also offer in custom orders with variable thickness of 9mm, 12mm, 15mm, 18mm, 21mm, 25mm, 30mm, 40mm, 45mm and 50mm with 15mm as the standard for stock items.

Do note thickness impacts the depth and look of the tooling pattern so a minimum thickness is required for each design and not all patterns can be made in any thickness. Please consult with us for more information.

Due to inventory limitations we only stock panels that have been twice or three times sanded and primed and ready for painting. We do not recommend that panels be ordered “raw” unless the final effect is a stained wood type finish.

RAW or PREPARED PANELS?

Raw MDF panels are offered in the marketplace but require an extraordinary amount of labor and time to sand down and apply the primer so that paint takes evenly on to the panel. Dust inhalation must be avoided at all times.

We strongly advise to order only pre-sanded & ready-primed panels if your intent is to apply a paint finish. It makes the whole process from installation to launch hassle free.

CUSTOM ORDERS – USA

On large custom orders the panels can be factory painted or locally in our partner Los Angeles facility.

The factory finishes include most designer colors, full matching capability for any specified color, and exotic finishes including crackle, archaize gold foil, scagliola, or an unlimited range of standard wall colors. From Los Angeles we also offer a full range of water base metallic paint finishes from Textures 3D custom made metallic paint colors.

While there are no minimum volume orders for our stock products in primed ready for painting finish, a minimum order of 10 sheets is required for custom or factory colors. For custom tooling patterns or designs made to the client’s specifications a minimum order of 50 sheets is required.

PATTERN FLOW

Most patterns are computer designed and tooled so the pattern seems to seamlessly flow from one panel to another.

The repeating seamless pattern panel designs are only available in sizes 4’x8’. No other sizes are offered in seamless design unless they are custom made to the clients specifications.

All panels flow in all four directions unless it is specified otherwise.

Specified flows

Patterns that flow “right to left” means that the pattern flows only on the eight foot length and not the four foot lengths.

INSTALLATION GUIDE

It is recommended for best adhesion and durability of the panel installation that a 9mm plywood sheet be first screwed to the wall as a level base panel.

The 3D panel should be installed over the plywood sheet using a combination of screws and adhesive. Counter sunk holes and joints can then be easily filled with a spackle type paste and finish-painted.

For custom factory painted panels z-clips can be used provided there’s sufficient material thickness and it is also recommended that the pre-finished panel be bonded to the thin plywood sheet prior to installation with z-clips to prevent bowing or warping. Touch-up paint is always provided with pre-finished and painted panels.

Panels can also be easily biscuit jointed for strong tight assembly. Especially suitable for furniture applications.

LOW COST OF INSTALLATION

One cost factor to consider is that unlike tile & stone that costs as much as $20 per sq ft to install on wall, the Texture 3D panels can be easily installed by anyone with an electric screwdriver or drill.

A detailed installation PDF guide is provided upon request.
